Ancestry of Joseph Faivre Update
Joseph Faivre (1782-c.1860) was a great, great grandfather of my paternal grandfather, Leopold J. DeBacker.
According to information that I had previously received, Joseph Faivre was the son of Jacques Faivre and Catherine Abram. However based on the marriage record of Joseph Faivre and Marie Angelique Voisard it appears that Joseph Faivre was not the son of Jacques Faivre and Catherine Abram, but in fact the son of Jean Pierre Faivre and Claudine Françoise Huot-Soudain.
According to a birth record written in Latin, Joseph Faivre was born 29 April 1782 in Grandfontaine, Juru, Switzerland to Jean Pierre Faivre and Françoise Huot.
According to a marriage record written in French (1,2,3), in the format of the Napoleonic Code and dated 5 November 1809, Joseph Faivre, a 27 year old day-laborer, married Jeanne Angélique Voisard, age 26, in Saint-Hippolyte, Doubs, France. The record states that Joseph is the son of Jean Pierre Faivre, a farmer from Grandfontaine, who is deceased having died at Grandfontaine 13 Brumaire year 9 (4 November 1800) and Françoise Huot-Soudain, who was present and consenting. For Jeanne Angélique, the record states that she is the daughter of Jean Germain Voisard, a farmer, residing in Montécheroux and of Mary Angélique Lachat with both of her parents present and consenting.
According to a marriage record written in Latin and dated November 16, 1764 at Fahy, Switzerland, Jean Pierre Faivre, son of Pierre Faivre of Grandfontaine and Anne Petitat of Fahy married Claudia Françoise Huot-Soudain, daughter of Jean Baptiste Huot-Soudain of Brettonvillers and Marie Gogand-Bizard of Pierrefontaine-les-Varans.
